Sustainable northern architecture

We've spent years figuring out what actually works up north

Forget the glossy magazine spreads that'd freeze over in a week. We're talking about buildings that handle -40 winters, respect the land, and still look incredible.

Every project starts with understanding the site - really understanding it. How the wind moves, where snow drifts, how the light changes through those long seasons. Then we design something that fits, not something that fights.

More About Our Approach

What we're good at

Six core services, all tested in real northern conditions

Residential Architecture

Homes that work with the climate instead of against it. Smart layouts, proper insulation, and designs that actually make sense for how you live.

Sustainable Building Design

Not just slapping solar panels on and calling it green. Real sustainability means buildings that last, use less energy, and minimize their footprint.

Arctic Climate Solutions

Permafrost? Extreme temps? Minimal daylight? We've dealt with it all. Custom solutions for conditions most architects never encounter.

Interior Space Planning

Making every square foot count when outdoor space is limited half the year. Practical layouts that actually enhance daily life.

Green Building Consultation

Honest advice on what green tech makes sense for your project and budget. We'll tell you what's worth it and what's just marketing hype.

Heritage Restoration

Bringing historical northern structures into modern standards while keeping their character intact. Respectful updates that honor the past.

Northern architecture project

Recent project: Whitehorse Residence

A 2,400 sq ft home designed for a young family who wanted modern comfort without compromising on energy efficiency or connection to the landscape.

The design uses passive solar principles, triple-pane windows, and locally-sourced timber. It's rated at 65% more efficient than standard builds, and the owners say it's the warmest house they've ever lived in.
